Along with the electrification of the powertrain and new purely electric vehicle platforms, car manufacturers are shifting their focus to creating a unique user experience, including new interior design concepts. Act-by-wire technology, which includes brake-by-wire and steer-by-wire systems, replaces the mechanical connection between steering wheel and steering actuator as well as the connection between brake pedal and brake actuators by electrical signal lines. This offers new degrees of freedom for new HMI concepts and for optimizing the vehicle design with regards to NVH, manufacturing and safety.
