How it works
As the system's core component, the semi-active damping control unit adjusts actuators in the dampers to reduce vibration and improve riding safety and comfort.
By using a non-contacting measurement principle, the wheel-speed sensors detect the rotational speed of wheels. The pressure sensor is mounted to the brake master cylinder, and measures the brake pressure and detect the rider/ driver’s brake input. Installed on the suspension arm or knuckle, the acceleration sensor provides the vertical acceleration signal of suspensions. The stroke/ angle position sensor is used to estimate the target’s suspension travel.
The steering angle sensor detects the steering angle and speed of the vehicle. The inertial measurement unit measures the vehicle’s acceleration and angular rate 100 times per second to supplies information about the vehicle’s current dynamic status.
At the push of a button, the semi-active damping unit allows riders to match their preferences by choosing and configuring suspension settings. It adjusts actuators in the dampers to reduce vibration and improve riding safety and comfort. Due to optimized sensor architecture, the semi-active damping control unit provides a combination of comfort and safety for a better riding experience.
