How health charging mode works

The smart charging service for preserving battery health optimizes the operating conditions of the traction battery in various ways and so helps to extend its lifetime. Using battery data from the connected vehicle in combination with electrochemical models in the cloud, the system identifies battery stress factors and actively helps to reduce them.

Health charging mode

When arriving at a charging station, electric vehicle users have the option to recharge their vehicle using a special mode that preserves the battery's health, thus extending the lifetime of the traction battery. The vehicle is then supplied with the optimal charging profile from the cloud.

Fast charging mode

At fast charging stations, users furthermore have the option to select fast charging mode via an app for charging their traction battery. The battery charges more quickly than in standard charging mode without reducing the battery lifetime.

Software development kit for vehicles

To make it easy to integrate the battery services, Bosch provides vehicle manufacturers with a software development kit (SDK) for their vehicles. The SDK interprets the charging profiles, which are regularly created and updated by the battery service for battery lifetime optimization, and provides the vehicle with power limits during the charging process.
